Has anyone taken the Mohawk Trail (rte 2) past North Adams to Williamstown to rte 22 in New York? If not, you HAVE to put it on your "Must Ride Road in '08" list!!! Four and one half miles of downhill (going west on 2)of wonderful twisty road!! Just great!! Then rte 22 is just super!! Nice gentle sweeps with plenty of room in lanes and good visibility for safety. I have to believe that a motorcyclist designed those roads!! Don - Marauder

I'll have to check this out this year. Perhaps we should organize a ride up there this year? I've done much of Route 2 and love it! In fact, if you're looking to go to Vermont, run 2 West from Greenfield and take 8A to 9/100 in Vermont. This is a great ride. Route 9 is incredible. In fact, if you run up there, go East a ways on 9 and stop at the lookout they have up there. It's amazing! We have a ride documented on the site under the slideshows section. It's the Whitehouse run. We had a great time on that one...
We generally run 9 to Laconia, NH once or twice a summer.

Hi Ian, Sounds like a lot of nice rides coming up. I like the 8A to 9 and 100 run. We'll have to try to hook up for a ride from 2 to 22 then cut-off to VT and back down , I think it is rte 30, to 9 and I know some unnumbered roads back to 116 area. Simply wonderful!! maybe even from 57 in southwick to rte 8 to maybe 20 or 23 to NY 22. There is a good diner in NY, just over the Hudson River on rte 23. Martendale Diner, or something like that..... Don |

Sounds like fun to me! I hit the road for a little while today around lunch time. It was just warm enough to enjoy an hour on the road!

Ian, sounds to me like Marauder needs to plan some rides for us. He seems to know the places to go and roads to ride. Come on Marauder....plan us a ride....weren't you the one who talked about a hookie day. Always looking for a reason to play hookie :)

Hi Chris,
glad to plan rides :-) I have worked in the Berkshire area for many years, and just love the area. My situation right now is that my wife and I are basically raising our grandson. Week-ends are basically out, but week-days are fine. Now that I retired, hookie rides mean playing hookey from home chores!! I will get at least one "free pass" day per week to ride. My thought is maybe Tuesdays or Wednesdays. What's best?? I have rode day trips solo, small groups of 1-10 in tow, both leader and the "Bozo On The Bus". even swept a few large rides. My comfort zone pace is that of flower sniffer. At, or just above the posted limit to keep up with traffic, but not a lot of zipping to pass cars and semi's. Hope that this fits in with the riding style here. We ALL must ride our own ride and stay within our comfort zone for everyone's safety.
