How cold is too cold for you to ride? I will head out if it gets above 45. Of course I'm wearing several layers when I do go...

Went out day after Christmas when it was 40 degrees. Nice quick ride through the Quabbin. It was freakin cold. Spring can't get here quick enough!

Did you get out for a ride today? I'm hoping for a little rain tonight to wash some sand and salt away. May try and swing trough the Quabbin in the morning after work. Everyday we are getting closer to being able to ask each other- Where did you ride today? NOT- Did you ride today? Looking forward to introducing myself at the bike show. Be safe.

I did get out! I couldn't get out until dark though. We fired up both bikes and headed out around 5:00. Short ride, 15-20 miles but it was nice to be riding. If it's not raining much around lunch I'm going back out today!

The tires on my bike (Bridgestone Battlax BT 014) won't allow me to ride until the weather/road warms up- the tire compound is the kind that needs to get sticky... so I wait...

Man that stinks! It's bad enough not being able to ride several times per week let alone having to wait until Spring!!! Makes me want to move south...

went for a quick ride today- not to bad, as far as how the tires reacted. It was 40 degrees or so. Throat got cold, so I am thinking about getting something to cover that. Does anyone else have problems with their oil turning a milky color in cold weather? I know that is indicative of moisture mixing with the oil, but I didn't know if there were long term oil quality issues...

Milky oil scares me! I've not heard of it other than when moisture is mixing with the oil. Perhaps it's just some condensation?

We put about 40 or so miles on the bike yesterday. Had a blast!!

As far as the neck thing goes, a simple bandanna helps but I recently purchased one the leather ones with the Velcro on the back. That's fantastic (hot leathers). My wife picked up a fleece pull-over thing for the neck that has a thin hood on it. She loves this thing as well. Also purchased at Hot Leathers.

We have a new affiliate on the site (www.coolbikerides.com) that offers leather clothing and riding gear. If you're interested, go to our Merchandise page and follow the link to Biker's Den. Once there, scroll down the page and watch for the link to the Leather Motorcycle Headgear and select that. Down the page a bit you'll find the leather bandannas. If you're doing much cold weather riding I'd highly recommend the one with the fleece lining. That's what I ride with and I love it!

Quick cold story, Bill W., a good friend and the fellow who was working the booth with me at the Springfield Motorcycle Show, rode his Triumph too and from the show. He estimated the temp on the way home was -4 to -5 with the wind chill. We call him "Triple B" now. If you want to know why, you'll have to ask me the next time you see me on the road!!!

We were out on Saturday! It was 40 degrees but sunny. My son (yes he's old enough to ride), Chris and I went out for a little ride around town. It was great until the snow started!
